International Women's Day 2022

As part of the International Women’s Day 2022 celebrations, NABARD, Aizawl organized a two-day International Women’s Day Fair-2022 at Vanapa Hall Parking Space, Aizawl on 8th & 9th March 2022. Pi Lalchungnungi, NABARD, graced the occasion with opening prayers to flag off the fair. There were seven stalls in the fair:

  • Lenbuang handloom and Handicrafts

  • Moses Self-Help Group

  • Aihniara Self-Help Group 

  • Ainawn Self-Help Group 

  • Hnam Chhantu Pawl

  • Angel Business Promoters

  • Kawnpui Women Farmer’s Club

There was a huge support from the locals and the fair was a success in terms of sales and promoting local businesses, entrepreneurs etc. The sales made in the fair on both days were unexpectedly high which shows that the Fair was successful.

As reported by the members who participate in the fair, the venue was such a suitable place to organise this type of event as it was a prime area and attracted many customers, as it was one of the most central areas in the city and much easier for most people to visit the fair. It also offers a great chance for the vehicles passing by to shop without the need to park their vehicles which doesn’t affect the traffic flow. The participants of this event were very grateful to the organizers for organizing this event and they were looking forward to more upcoming events.

International Women's Day, 2023

International Women's Day 2023

Every year, March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day across the globe. The day commemorates the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements made by women in various fields. It is a significant occasion for all involved in the fight for gender equity and equality. The day's conception is embedded with the worldwide struggle for better living and working conditions for women.

This year's theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” highlights the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.

As part of the International Women’s Day 2022 celebrations; NABARD, Aizawl organized a two-day International Women’s Day Fair-2023 at Vanapa Hall Parking Space, Aizawl on 6th & 7th March 2023 and a Meeting on 7th March 2023 at NABARD Regional Office, Aizawl.

A number 08 women entrepreneurs, start-ups and SHGs were invited to participate in the fair and display their products. Following are the invited entrepreneurs/SHGs:

This year's celebration holds particular significance, as it marks not only a moment to honor the achievements of women across the globe but also serves as a rallying cry for sustained action towards gender parity in all facets of life. From politics to economics, from education to healthcare, women's contributions are indispensable to the fabric of our societies, and their voices are essential in shaping our shared future.

The theme "Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment" underscores the pivotal role of economic independence in advancing gender equality. By ensuring women's full participation in economic activities, from entrepreneurship to workforce inclusion, societies can unlock immense potential for growth and development. Economic empowerment not only enhances women's financial stability but also fosters their autonomy and agency, leading to broader social and economic benefits for communities. Through targeted policies, investments, and opportunities, we can accelerate progress towards gender equality, recognizing that when we count her in, we pave the way for a more prosperous and inclusive future for all.

  • International Women’s Day Seminar at HYVE City Hall, Aizawl on 8th March 2024

  • Two Days International Women’s Day Exhibition at Vanpa Hall Parking Space, Aizawl.

A number 16 women entrepreneurs, start-ups and SHGs were invited to participate in the fair and display their products. Following are the invited entrepreneurs/SHGs:

SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

In a collaborative effort to champion gender equality and empower women across diverse sectors, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) hosted a seminar event on International Women's Day 2024. This landmark seminar brought together a myriad of voices, experiences, and insights, resonating with the theme "Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment."

Amidst a backdrop of global advocacy for women's rights, the seminar provided a platform for three distinguished women speakers to share their expertise, challenges, and visions for a more inclusive future. Through their diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives, these speakers illuminated the critical nexus between economic empowerment and gender parity, underscoring the transformative potential of inclusive policies and initiatives.

We delve into the enriching discussions, compelling narratives, and innovative solutions presented during the International Women's Day 2024 seminar. Through the lens of the speakers'

contributions, we explore the multifaceted dimensions of economic empowerment for women, examining its profound implications for sustainable development, social cohesion, and equitable progress.

Opening Song - RO MIN REL SAK ANG CHE

T. Vanlalhmangaihi, Mizo Idol 2022 delivers the Opening song ‘Ro Min Rel Sak Ang Che’. ‘Ro Min Rel Sak Ang Che’ is the state anthem of Mizoram and the national anthem of the then MNF, Mizoram which was composed by the legendary Mizo poet Pu Rokunga (Poet of the Century) in 1947 amidst the fighting for independence from the rule of the British. The Mizo Idol also delivered a melodious Hindi song ‘Kaisi Paheli Zindagani’ for the participants of the Seminar.

Welcome Speech - Shri KVSSLV Prasada Rao 

General Manager, NABARD Mizoram Regional Office

Shri KVSSLV Prasada Rao, GM NABARD delivered the welcome speech whilst thanking the participants for attending the program. He gave a report on the initiatives of NABARD in encouraging women SHGs and entrepreneurs and a relationship of NABARD and Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission (MzSRLM), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and other departments and institutions.

Ms. Lalhlupuii Ralte - Zo Bio Hub

Ms. Lalhlupuii Ralte, Proprietor of Zo Bio Hub shares her entrepreneurial experiences and journeys towards a successful career.

Zo Bio Hub is a startup that aims to preserve the biodiversity of Mizoram by encouraging farmers to grow native aromatic and medicinal plants. It was founded by the speaker, Lalhlupuii (Mahlui) Ralte who considered the forest as her home, and was aware of the rich biodiversity it offered, and also how the depleting forest cover and excessive cultivation was affecting the environment and the livelihoods of people

Ms. Lalrohlupuii, SMS-Home Science-KVK Aizawl

Lalrohlupuii, SMS-Home Science-KVK Aizawl delivers an encouraging message to the women participants and motivates them to go forward in their journeys to become a successful women entrepreneur. 

The KVK’s are the activity centres equipped with strong training, demonstrations and development based for bringing about sound and speedier technological revolution and production breakthrough in agriculture and allied fields with higher degree of sustainability. The emphasis is given to provide critical skills so that the trainees may confidently use the technology in their fields to increase agricultural production and productivity.

Ms. H. Lalchhandami, CEO MzSRLM

H. Lalchhandami, CEO MzSRLM delivered a speech on the experiences of MzSRLM in establishing and handholding Women Self Help Groups (WSHGs). Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) was launched on 22nd April 2013 to initiate the implementation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) which is a flagship program under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to eradicate poverty in the rural areas of Mizoram. The Mission is now operating in all 11 districts covering 28 RD blocks.

Under MzSRLM, Self Help Groups are formed from amongst the poorest of the poor families through participatory identification of the poor. The Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are then federated into Village Organizations (VOs) which are again federated into Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).

Inaugural Program

Ms Lalchhandami, along with other Guest Speakers inaugurated the Two Day Exhibition for Celebration of International Women’s Day 2024 by cutting the ribbon.
