Women's SHG Exhibition at Kolasib, 2023

Inauguration

The inauguration of this ‘2 Day Exhibition for Women SHGs’ was held on 29 September 2023, 10:30am at Kolasib Venglai Market Building. The inauguration was chaired by Shri J. Zoramsangkima, Program Head, Angel Business Promoters of Mizoram. He introduces the members from NABARD and Government departments as well as Women SHG participants from Thingdawl and Bilkhawthlir RD Blocks.

Chief Guest for the program, Shri Lalmuan Puia, MCS, the Project Director of DRDO inaugurated the exhibition and delivered a short speech mentioning the importance of Exhibition to the SHGs. He stressed the importance of upliftment of rural women in various possible ways and hoped that SHGs will play a crucial role in these initiatives. He expects that as a SHGs, rural potential women will gain a number of knowledge, skills (technical and non-technical), self confidence and financial sustainability to develop their livelihoods. 

He thanked Angel Business Promoters of Mizoram and NABARD for organising the Exhibition for Women SHGs formed under Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM), Department of Rural Development, Government of Mizoram and wished that all participants sell well during the exhibition.

Shri JD Traite, NABARD District Development Manager (DDM) for Kolasib and Mamit was invited to deliver a short speech and elaborated on the past collaborations and financial assistance NABARD provided  in promotion of SHGs within the state. He encouraged the participants to look out for NABARD assistance in the days to come and he expected that more collaboration will be worked out between the institutions.

Smt Lalengmawii, Lead District Manager (Kolasib & Mamit) also delivers a speech on the importance of loans and advances for SHGs and informs the current loan account holders to give more importance on their loan repayment.

Shri Malsawmtluanga, BDO Bilkhawthlir RD Block gave a presentation on successful SHGs in Kerala and encouraged the SHG Participants to apply the good initiatives of other SHGs.

The inauguration program was also attended by a number of staff from MzSRLM.

The exhibition is organised in the prime area of Kolasib district. There are hundreds of visitors during the two day exhibition.

 

The products sold in this exhibition range from handloom and handicraft to food and vegetables as well as beverages.
